My brother and I are heading to the field this weekend, and the cold weather has finally arrived to help us kick things off. We saw the switch get flipped last night with parts of the state dipping into the 20s overnight. The daytime temps are still tickling the 70s, but it's a short peak and the averages are starting to level out in the 50s and 60s now. It's great campfire weather and we're looking forward to having a lot of fun.
Our plan is to hunt a few hours on Saturday night and then camp out overnight. That sets the stage for an early morning vigil on Sunday and a chance to see the sun rise over some beautiful Kansas prairie grass. Right now the forecast is calling for high 40s overnight and mild temps during the day... and most importantly very moderate winds. That can be a rare thing in this state...
Now if the deer will just cooperate and show up, too!
